Trip Overview

Travel in time on this exceptional hike along a dry riverbed in one of the most representative and impressive canyons of the region, seeing some of the most amazing assortments of plants and some remnants of this region’s extensive mining history.

Let your mind wander as you hear our guide tell some stories from yester-year as you meander through the desolate Sierra, where the only thing that will interrupt this trip to the past is a delicious prepared by our house chef Iván, who’s passion you can taste!

On our way back, you will get a unique opportunity to touch history and bring it back to life in one of the remaining building from the 1800s where all the magic happened. Picture yourself working in one of the several prominent mines that were opened in order to retrieve the minute amounts of silver and gold, in hopes of a better tomorrow.

Climate and weather

La Paz is situated on the Gulf of California on the southern part of the Baja California peninsula. It is separated from the Pacific by a desert environment with low mountains in between. We get large temperature swings, typically in the late fall and spring, up to 40 degrees fahrenheit (40 degrees celsius). This can be true even during winter. Outside of summer, we recommend packing for HOT and COLD weather. Most importantly, be prepared for a sun that’s stronger than you may be used to due to our latitude. Remember, a sunburn takes just a couple hours to develop, but it can ruin the rest of your trip. Stay shaded and stay hydrated.

Luggage

For day trips, you’ll want to bring a small bag or backpack for your water bottle and personal items. Our boats have a dry storage space.
