Trip overview
Balandra Bay, known for its pristine beaches, mangroves, calm waters and stunning landscapes is a natural protected area and a must-see attraction when visiting La Paz. Make sure you don’t miss out, and visit this iconic destination on a day trip with RED Travel. We will make the short trip (30 minutes) to Balandra by boat, departing from the RED Travel Office at Puerta Cortés. We will stop off at San Rafaelito, a small outcropping of rock teeming with marine life including juvenile sea lions, here we will jump in the water to snorkel with our naturalist guide before continuing on to Balandra Bay. Enjoy a tasty lunch (dietary restrictions taken into account), relax on the beach, explore the nature trails, and snorkel in the crystal water before returning to La Paz.

Notes
-
On itinerary: We will make all efforts to adhere to the itinerary described above, but we may modify the itinerary due to wind, weather, and other factors. The safety and enjoyment of our travelers are our top priorities. Please see our terms and conditions for more information. We do not guarantee wildlife sightings, interaction or behavior. All travelers must comply with communicated protocols and regulations regarding activities within natural protected areas and interactions with wildlife.
-
On trip insurance: All of our experiences are covered by an Emergency Medical Expenses insurance. In order to obtain coverage, each guest MUST SIGN A LIABILITY WAIVER BEFORE DEPARTURE.
-
Climate and weather: La Paz is situated on the Gulf of California on the southern part of the Baja California peninsula. It is separated from the Pacific by a desert environment with low mountains in between. We get large temperature swings, typically in the late fall and spring, up to 104 degrees fahrenheit (40 degrees celsius). This can be true even during winter. Outside of summer, we recommend packing for HOT and COLD weather. Most importantly, be prepared for a sun that’s stronger than you may be used to due to our latitude. Remember, a sunburn takes just a couple hours to develop, but it can ruin the rest of your trip. Stay shaded and stay hydrated.
-
Luggage: For day trips, you’ll want to bring a small bag or backpack for your water bottle and personal items. Our boats have a dry storage space.
