This March, RED Travel Mexico participated in Adventure Week, organized by our friends at the Adventure Travel and Trade Association (ATTA) and the state tourism board of Baja California Sur (FITUES). For the 20 international tour operators and media participating in the event, it was a chance to get to know Baja California Sur on a whirlwind trip starting in Los Cabos, heading to La Paz, Espíritu Santo, Magdalena Bay, Loreto and Laguna San Ignacio. We got the chance to show off the RED experience in our sea turtle research camp in Magdalena Bay. Our challenge – how to fit 4 days of activities for 20 people into a 24 hour experience? Our team pulled out all the stops and in the end, everyone managed to get out and paddle through the mangrove canals, climb the monstrous sand dune overlooking the Pacific, participate in the Grupo Tortuguero sea turtle monitoring, and feast on sustainably caught local shrimp from Smartfish. And after the sun set into picturesque Magdalena Bay, the group got to relax and let go, sipping hot chocolate, stargazing and singing songs with the guitar by the fireside. For us at RED it marked another unforgettable experience with friends and colleagues, some of whom we’ve met at ATTA events in Scotland, Chiapas and Namibia, and for us to show why RED was nominated as a finalist for the Tourism for Tomorrow Innovation Award. It was truly our pleasure to host old friends from the ATTA tribe and make new ones in our Magdalena Bay turtle research camp, and we hope to see everyone back here soon. We send a huge abrazo from the RED crew.
