Can RED help me with hotel bookings?

We’ll be happy to do so. RED works with a diversity of hotels in the Baja California Peninsula and we’ll be help you find the best option for you and yours.


Will my special dietary needs be accommodated?

Absolutely! Our chefs pride themselves on meeting culinary challenges. Please indicate on your pre-trip departure forms if you are Vegetarian, Vegan, or have any food allergies or special dietary needs.


Is it safe to travel in Mexico?

The state of Baja California Sur is far from the violence reported in the news in other regions of Mexico. La Paz and Loreto are noted for their tranquility and safety. You can feel comfortable in either city walking at night. Tourist police abound in these cities, and are more than willing to help answer any questions you have.


Can RED arrange my airline travel?

RED does not directly arrange air travel. We can recommend a travel agent or a suggested route.


Is it safe to drink the water and ice?

While you may feel more comfortable drinking out of disposable plastic water bottles, rest assured that any water and ice you are served is potable. Even at home, locals drink from the 5 gallon purified bottles. We strongly encourage travelers to bring reusable drinking bottles.


Will I have cell phone reception or access to email?

Cell phone service is limited while in most locations, and no internet service is provided while on the trip. If you find that you do have a cellular signal, we request that you respect other travelers and limit any use to area defined by your guides.


Insurance

Do I need special insurance?

We strongly recommend you purchase travel insurance prior the beginning of your trip. You should find one that accommodates your needs, check World Nomads to see if it covers them.


Do I sign a waiver?

Yes. Before joining one of RED’s tours we encourage you to read and sign our liability waiver.


Payment & Cancellation

How much should I tip?

It is customary to tip between 10% and 15%.


Can I cancel my trip?

Yes you can. But there are some fees, to be collected by RED as follows:
91 days prior to departure: 10% from the total price of the trip.
90 – 45 days prior to departure: 20% from the total price of the trip. (equivalent to your deposit)
Less than 45 days prior to departure: 100%

RED strongly recommends you to purchase travel insurance in case you need to cancel your trip due to unforeseen circumstances.


Can RED cancel my trip?

We try not to cancel trips. Nevertheless, there are certain occasions we may need to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances or in case the minimum number of people didn’t sign up for the trip. We’ll be happy to fully refund you if we cancel the trip or give you some alternatives for other amazing trips you could explore.

We commit to giving you at least 45 days notice prior to departure date. RED is not responsable for other expenses such as airline tickets, hotels, or else.


Is a deposit required?

A 20% deposit is required to confirm your spot.


Luggage

How much luggage can I take?

As you will be traveling by boat (or mule fore some of our trips to Sierra de la Giganta), we request that you limit luggage to one suitcase or duffel and a backpack or other type bag. A small backpack is handy for carrying cameras, water bottle, books, hats, etc. If you have excess luggage, you can leave it with us.


What should I bring?

For our multi-day adventures please follow our packing list as a base. For day tours, we recommend bringing the basic (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, non-breakable water bottle). If there’s special gear to be brought RED staff will let you know with anticipation.


Children & Families

Are these good trips for kids?

Definitely! RED’s Family Adventures are designed to deliver memorable experiences for all participants. Kid-focused staff will make sure to keep your kids busy with educational games and activities, helping make sure parents get to enjoy some free time.


Are there children discounts?

Yes! The following discounts apply per paid adult:
0 – 3 years old: 100% Off
4 – 7 years old: 30% Off
8 – 10 years old: 20% Off
11 – 17 years old: 10% Off

These don’t apply with other promotions.
